Etiquette for Yoga? |
 |
This simple structure will help you to navigate your practice, the studio and your neighbors with utmost comfort for all.
We practice yoga etiquette to show our respect for ourselves, our peers and our teachers.

|
- Arrive early to class. Please be on your mat with everything you need two minutes prior to the teacher entering the room. Classes start and end on time.
- Practice on a yoga mat and towel or Breathe Bikram Yoga Mat to keep your sweat from pooling on the flooring. If you find you have left a puddle, please use the mini wetvac to suck it up after final savasana.
- No glass in the studio. We're all barefoot; it's not worth the risk.
- Stay until the end of class. It is important for your health and the energy of the group.
- Honor the silence of the room, especially during savasana.
- Be a good role model. Practice your stillness and discipline between the poses.
- Leave no trace. Please deposit trash, recycling, compost, mats and towels in their proper place. Bring home your clothes, water bottles and equipment. Please apply baby powder at home.
- Please no perfume, cologne, essential oils or heavily-scented lotions in the studio. We have several active students with severe chemical allergies. Did you know...one in five people have negative reactions to scented products?
- Follow along with the cues to the best of your ability today in each posture. The Bikram series is therapeutic and your body will reap the benefits regardless of how much of a posture can do, as long as you try the correct alignment and sequence of the cues.
- We are happy to help you approach any challenging postures, but we do not use props in the Bikram Method.
- Come to class sober. Please do not attend class after using any recreational drugs or alcohol.
- Enjoy yourself. This is a life-changing practice. It is challenging, important and serious, but can also be a lot of fun.
