After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
| Insane, really insane. I didn't know whether I loved it or hated it. I just knew I had to come back. I felt great, charged up in a way I hadn't felt in a long time. I cruised the net to find out what I could about Bikram Yoga. How often I should go and all of that. I was hooked right out of the gate. |
Every month that goes by I notice more and more changes in myself, physically, mentally and emotionally. The truly amazing thing is that I actually notice the changes now. |
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
|
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
| I have been going for a year now and the changes in my body are unbelievable. I dropped about 15 pounds down to a weight I should be, I have a lot more patience. I am not as anxious. My blood pressure dropped by 30%. My eating habits have changed, I don't eat as much. I actually have muscles in my legs now. |
Every month I find a new one to enjoy, but I would say that overall I really enjoy tree pose. It is the one posture that helps me with my hip in a way none of the others do.
|
What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
| Giving myself a break. Sometimes I go in with a head of steam on determined to force my way through and into every posture. It has taken me the better part of the year to realize that I don't have to force my way through it. Now I just ease my way into every posture. I get more results with what appears to be less effort. |
Don't listen to anyone but yourself. You know what is right for you. You know how you felt after it was over. Go every day for 10 days. You can back off after that if you want, but I guarantee that you will see extraordinary changes in your mind and body if you just do the 10 days in a row. |
Is there anything you would like to add? |
|
This yoga as with all Yoga is really all about you and your ability to understand yourself. Once you can come to peace with yourself, you will look at your world and the people in it much differently. For me, Yoga has allowed me the peace of mind to be able to step back and look at the picture a bit more closely and to accept what is in the picture rather than force myself into the picture. Thank you Nicole for deciding to open this studio here in this time.
