After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
I was sweatier than I'd ever been. I had to sit multiple times to avoid fainting, but I felt proud of myself for having completed something so challenging.
The empowered feeling I carry with me the rest of the day. Doing this first thing in the morning makes me feel strong and proud and ready to take on anything.
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
Happiness. I remember one day, after about a month of going 4 days a week, I came out of every posture with a smile. So often we forget to smile. Usually after each posture I am begging for savasana, and dreading the sit up...but since that day- and I remember that day vividly- I charge at the sit-up, I smile at the challenging poses. My flexibility is changing slowly, my body is looking leaner, and I am feeling happier, which is no small feat.

Half tortoise, standing separate leg stretching, and wind-removing. All because they feel amazing- instant benefit, and because in each of these postures I can feel myself improving. I have been able to notice my progress as my hips have gotten deeper toward my heels, my forehead has touched the floor, and those last vertebrae have been inching toward the ground.

What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
Making the time to come is the biggest challenge, but so rewarding. The second biggest challenge is getting into camel. :)
The worst thing you could do is go once and not go again. Go again the day after. And focus on your breath, listen to your body. You've done it once, you know the postures. Now do it again and really focus on your body.

Is there anything you would like to add? |
