After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
Hard and Hot! I was really, really tired. But it struck me as something that would be very worthwhile if taken seriously. |
As I've gotten older, I have developed more aches and pains, mostly in my joints. The practice has really helped to alleviate many of those. |
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
I've had chronic back pain and a real problem with one of my ankles. My flexibility has also been decreasing over time. After just a few weeks of coming, the aches and pains were greatly diminished and my flexibility has really improved. My aerobic fitness has also improved.

Balancing stick. It gives me an indication of where I am with respect to balance and aerobic fitness. I'm not very good at it, but I have improved. |
What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
Enduring the heat and getting past the awkward pose. I find awkward excruciating at times. |
Do not overdo it. I had to take several weeks off after overdoing a couple of the poses, causing my sciatica to flare up. |
Is there anything you would like to add? |
It's never too late to start. I certainly would have been better at this at a younger age, but I am getting plenty of benefit now and hope to improve over time. |
