After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
| I felt I'd never get certain positions but I was curious enough to want to return.... and of course, Valerie was visiting and telling me I must continue!!! |
I had been wanting to start some yoga for about 3 years plus because I knew I needed more flexibility; when you become older you notice very stiff joints... I had experimented with Ashtanga but never was disciplined about it for I felt I was always looking around room, not understanding position or terms and definitely not being able to get into positions on a timely basis; a year before I started Bikram I went to Kripala for a 3-day rest and renewal and tried a hot yoga session and loved sweating!! So, when you, Nicole, started your studio last year I jumped at the chance to be in warmth during the awful Winter and loved that I could sweat and also get somewhat of a cardio workout with my heart beating faster in some positions. And as you said, Bikram gives you the whole "magillah", I did feel like it made me feel good all over!!... even though often, I'm exhausted all over!! |
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
|
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
| The benefits to my hips and spine and stretched-out front (my tummy area has been a lifetime struggle for me and since doing Bikram I've really stretched-out to a flat-ness in the abdominal area I never had!) this year have definitely outweighed any struggles. |
My favorite posture is the very last.... the spine twist which feels so good!!! That even helps my hips and butt!! What brings me back?... my body tells me I need the focus and this yoga.... the repition of the positions lets me concentrate on pushing forward; I'm not confused with new movements at each class. |
What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
|
My biggest frustration.... BOW PULLING POSE... both standing and lying(even though airplane wing spread is becoming a bugger too!!!... and will I ever be able to stretch my forehead to floor before my arms come down in the posture that's good for my sleep cycle?). |
I'd check out the photos of positions, Bikram web page for positions, for the visuals help alot!!.... and I'd keep breathing!!! |
Is there anything you would like to add? |
|
|
Thank you, Nicole, for your attention, and know you've added so much knowledge about the mind to our family! NAMASTE!! |
