After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
That was challenging but I felt great!!! |
The teachers and students who practice regularly are like a great big community. During class it gives me time to focus on myself and my practice, not what ever is stressing me. I love how I feel afterward. |
What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
I have lost weight, gained strength, confidence, and more pride in my accomplishments. |
Full Camel- It is a challenge but it feels so good once I get in it and while I am holding it.
What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
Not letting one posture ruin my 90 minute practice. I really am trying to work on focusing on the posture I am on and realizing after I had a tough one that it is over, and that was where I was at during that time. Also the pulled left hamstring I have been struggling with forever it feels like. I am an overachiever and have a hard time "taking it easy" to let it fully heal. |
Don't quit. Come as much as you can in the beginning to get used to it. Don't set up in the back left hand corner anymore unless you want to be in the hottest spot. Try and remember everyone had a first class and no one is at the same level. Everyone is at different stages so DON'T COMPARE YOUR PRACTICE TO OTHERS!!! And the most important thing...BREATHE!!!! Be proud of yourself you just worked your butt off. |
Is there anything you would like to add? |
After cheerleading and playing softball through my four years of college I never thought I would find a work out that gave me the same feelings. Bikram does and the class energy is like being on a team again, it definitely lifts you up if you are feeling down or having a rough class. The teachers are like your coach they will help you to improve and let you know what you are doing well. They are always willing to answer questions, offer advice, and if you catch them on the right day sing a song or read a poem to assist with the thought process and emotional aspect of the yoga. |
