After your first Bikram class, what was your impression? |
What drives you to continue to practice? What keeps bringing you back? |
Wow that was challenging! How hot was it in there?
I had done yoga for 8 years before I even started Bikram, but Bikram Yoga takes using your mind, body and spirit to a whole new level. I feel like every time I walk out of the room after a class I say to myself, "I really needed that; thank goodness I came." My body is in the best shape it has ever been in and having those 90 minutes to devote to my well-being is incredible. I also look forward to seeing my fabulous instructors and wonderful friends who make me smile.

What are some of the benefits and changes you've seen in yourself?
What is your favorite posture in the series and why? |
Since I started Bikram yoga my entire outlook on life has changed. I know, that sounds cheezy, but it really has. I have become much more patient and accepting of challenges both physical and mental. I used to have severe anxiety and stress, but Bikram Yoga has taught me how to see things for what they are and not allow them to overwhelm me. I've also seen huge changes in my body-I'm much more flexible, but more importantly strong! I focus more on my breathing and posture throughout my day. When I first heard one of the teachers in class say, "Do this with your smiling happy face," as I was struggling and beating myself up for not being able to do the posture I realized that when things get rough a smile will lighten your mood.

I have two favorites...One because I'm good at it, but also enjoy the feeling I get while I'm in it: Camel. My second favorite is Standing Bow pose because it's my greatest challenge and though I dread it, I feel as though I'm constantly having to remind myself that I can do it-and I do!

What is your greatest challenge about the yoga? Yourself? |
What advice can you give to a 1st timer after they complete the class? |
My biggest challenge is getting to class...as a student I find it difficult to find 90 minutes or more in my day to devote to yoga, but I make the time. It's worth it!
Congratulations for coming! Drink some water, relax, and keep coming!
Is there anything you would like to add? |

I always thought that after coming for a while my practice would get easier since I would be doing the same 26 postures each time, but (believe it or not) each class feels equally challenging. I have been practicing for a year now-yay!-and I have noticed that every class I have ever come to has been my greatest challenge yet. Bikram yoga is addictive and the people that you take it with are some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet!
